Tammy Carvey, a 45-year-old from Wyandotte, Michigan, turned to ChatGPT for Powerball number suggestions—a decision that netted her a $100,000 win. Her ticket matched four WHITE balls and the Powerball in the September 6 drawing, with the prize doubling through the Power Play feature.

Experts caution that AI tools marketed as lottery predictors merely mimic randomness and offer no statistical edge. While AI aids lotteries in fraud detection and compliance, its role in improving player odds remains unproven.

The Michigan Lottery confirmed Carvey’s win, which she discovered after logging into her account. "I asked ChatGPT for a set of Powerball numbers," she said, underscoring the serendipitous nature of the outcome.
